Refreshing Strawberry Lemonade
Spring brings adorable baby animals, April flowers, and an abundance of delicious fresh fruits and vegetables. This recipe pays homage to one of the tastiest fruits out there: the strawberry. Find the freshest berries at your local farmer’s market for a truly authentic, straight-from-nature taste!
A glass of strawberry lemonade on a spring or summer day is one of life’s little pleasures. Feel free to tweak this recipe depending on your tastes and how sweet your strawberries are. Remember: you can always add more sugar, but you can’t add less! For family members with different tastes, use this recipe as the base and add sugar to your individual glasses as you like.
What You Need
1/3 cup and 2 Tbsp. sugar (divided)
4 cups water (divided)
1 cup freshly squeezed lemon juice (4-6 lemons)
What to Do
- Cut the strawberries in half, and add 2 Tbsp. sugar and 1 cup water. Blend.
- Pour your strawberry juice into a pitcher, and add the rest of the water (3 cups), the rest of the sugar (1/3 cup), and your lemon juice. If you don’t have freshly squeezed, lemon juice concentrate will work in a pinch. Stir the ingredients together.
If you like your strawberry lemonade smoothie-style, throw in a bunch of ice cubes and blend! If not, put it in the fridge and let it chill for an hour before serving. Garnish your glass with a strawberry (or even a sugar rim!) for a little added panache.
