Thomas Brant, MD, FACEP joined the FastMed team of providers in 2013, as regional medical director in North Carolina. In 2016, he was appointed North Carolina’s chief medical officer, and in 2019 became the regional chief medical officer for the East Region.
Prior to this, Dr. Brant gained significant occupational health and safety experience while with Concentra, as well as training in biomedical informatics. As a result, he developed a specific interest in process improvement and quality assurance/peer review.
Notably, Dr. Brant has sat on leadership committees for a number of respected organizations. He has served as chairman of the Department of Emergency Medicine at Novant Health Presbyterian Medical Center in Charlotte for four years, and on the North Carolina Emergency Medical Services Advisory Council for two years. He is also a member of the American College of Emergency Physicians and the North Carolina Medical Society.
Dr. Brant completed his residency training in emergency medicine at Case Western Reserve in 1997. He has worked in clinical practice in the Charlotte region as a board-certified emergency medicine physician since 1998.
Dr. Brant and his wife Anne reside in Huntersville with their two children. In addition to enjoying tennis, skiing, boating, hunting, and travel, Dr. Brant also generously gives back to the community. He has volunteered with the Boy Scouts of America, and provided healthcare services during major events. These include helping Hurricane Katrina victims at the Charlotte coliseum and providing medical coverage at the Democratic National Convention.
