Flu Season Arrives Again This Year

0 Comment(s) |

With summer drawing to a close and cooler weather steadily approaching, this can only mean one thing; flu season is nearly upon us. The average flu season typically runs from early October to as late as May.

According to the Center for Disease and Control Prevention “An annual seasonal flu vaccine (either the flu shot or the nasal-spray flu vaccine) is the best way to reduce the chances that you will get seasonal flu and lessen the chance that you will spread it to others.”

Flu TipFastMed will be offering flu shots this year and is recommended for anyone 6-months or older. Besides the flu shot, there are also basic techniques people can use to avoid getting sick from the flu:

  • Always Wash Your Hands
    • Wash your hands many times during the day and also keep a hand sanitizer spray in convenient places (work office, purse, car and etc.)
    • Cover Your Mouth When You Sneeze or Cough
      • By covering your mouth when sneezing or coughing you are also preventing others around you from getting ill.

If you think you might be suffering from the flu already, here are some signs that you might be:

  • 100º fever or higher
  • Persisting cough
  • Runny or stuffy nose
  • Constant headaches

Luckily for you and your loved ones, FastMed Urgent Care is offering the flu vaccine at all of our FastMed locations!
