On October 27th 2012, FastMed opened its 28th location in North Carolina in the town of Chapel Hill.

To celebrate its grand opening, FastMed offered a free community event, which included pizza, Ben and Jerry’s Ice Cream, a video gaming truck, face painting, balloon twisting art, free flu shots and much more! FastMed’s mascot, Dr. Kyle, was also at the grand opening offering friendly hugs and high fives to all of the guests.

Kidsville News’ mascot, Truman, the 6-foot dragon, also made an appearance for the kids at the Chapel Hill grand opening. Kidsville News of Orange County is a free, educational literary resource for the children of Orange County, NC. According to Editor-in-Chief, Kate Look, Kidsville began publication in North Carolina in 1998, and has since then spread to 14 different states. The publication, which is designed for students K-6, is a monthly newsletter that features different pieces that are designed to keep kids engaged. Some of the newsletter’s sections include Wildville, a monthly spotlight of a different animal, movie reviews, puzzles, games and more. Each month, the cover is done by local NC artist, Dan Nelson, and features Truman.

A section in the newsletter, called Parent Town, features children’s book reviews by famous author, James Patterson. Kidsville is provided monthly in schools (both public and private), libraries, museums, and other family-friendly venues. Look says that Kidsville partners with sponsors to ensure that the publication always remains free for the children. For more information, visit their website at
