FastMed Wilkesboro launches with fun community grand opening event

August 29, 2011 – On Saturday August 27, even before the official start of the grand opening community event at 11 AM, local Wilkesboro residents streamed in to get to know the new neighborhood urgent care in town. FastMed Wilkesboro’s community event included the local Wilkesboro police and Fire Departments and photos with the officers and firefighters, free ice cream and pizza for everyone, tours and staff introductions, face painters, music, and other fun activities.
The FastMed street team gave-a-way t-shirts, first aid kits and information on the new urgent care clinic and shared what FastMed Urgent Care does within the community. The Grand Opening event lasted from 11 AM to 3 PM, with hundreds of visitors touring the clinic, enjoying the food and enjoying the day’s activities.

I have lived in Wilkesboro for a long time, and having worked for FastMed and knew that we should open an urgent care clinic here. But I was not prepared for the overwhelming support in the community for the need of a high quality clinic conveniently located right here in Wilkesboro. It is very exciting.” said Gary Reash, Practice Manager for FastMed Wilkesboro.

I am delighted to have FastMed open for business in Wilkesboro, providing a valuable service to our community and creating good jobs in the process.  Their new facility is impressive.  As Mayor Inscore said today, it is a good thing to offer a choice to consumers.  We wish FastMed a successful future in Wilkesboro.” Said Wilkesboro Town Councilman and Mayor Pro Tem, Sam Stroud.

We are honored to serve the people of Wilkesboro and be an active part of the community. We are there when you need us 7 days a week 365 days a year. We also have a great program for people without insurance to help save money related to the cost of healthcare at our facility.” said Jason A. Williams MPAS, Ph.D, President and CEO of FastMed’s Eastern Region.

FastMed extended thanks to Wilkes Chamber of Commerce, Major Mike and Councilman Stroud, the council members and all the local Wilkesboro businesses that came to show their support. They also have special thanks to the Wilkesboro Fire Department and Police department for the photos with children. WWWC Radio was a key presence at their event as well with a live broadcast throughout the day.
