Chandler is home to many innovative technology companies, including Intel, Infusionsoft, Air Products, and the Innovations Science & Technology Incubator, and this event gives families and individuals the opportunity to learn about the scientific experiments conducted in their own backyard. With crafts, live music, and interactive demonstrations, this is sure to be a fun (and educational) weekend for kids and adults alike.
March – Ostrich Festival
Chandler has its roots in ostrich farming, and we celebrate those roots every March with the Ostrich Festival! There’s live music by nationally known bands, ostrich chariot races, and meet and greets with your favorite celebrities…everyone will enjoy this wacky festival. Get a thrill on the carnival rides, eat snow cones and elephant ears, and even ride a camel. Stretch your own legs at the parade or Fun Run!
April – Annual Chandler Jazz Festival
Preparations for the 16th Annual Chandler Jazz Festival, to take place in 2015, are already underway. This spectacular weekend features free musical performances and showcases the many shops, galleries, and eateries in downtown Chandler. Don’t forget a blanket or some lawn chairs for the outdoor concerts!
May – Cinco de Mayo Festival and Chihuahua Races
The annual Cinco de Mayo Celebration honors the Hispanic community’s many contributions to Chandler. Among the fun activities at this event, presented by the Si Se Puede Foundation, are a beer garden, food trucks, Chihuahua races, and the crowning of King and Queen Chihuahua.
June – Summer Splash Tour
This year’s Summer Splash Tour, sponsored by FastMed Urgent Care, was held on June 14th in Dr. A.J. Chandler Park. This free event is like a mobile water park, with water slides, dunk tanks, misting stations, water balloon battle grounds, a kiddie play land, and even cyber maze water tag. Mark this event on your calendar for next year!
July – 4th of July Fireworks Celebration
The Chandler Lions Club presents a 4th of July celebration each Independence Day, and it’s always the highlight of the month. With live music from multiple bands, a carnival, a 35’ water slide and 24’ rock climbing wall, and a bike parade (with a prize!), it’s the ultimate way to celebrate America’s Independence. Located at Tumbleweed Park, there’s plenty of room for crowds, and parking is only $5. Bring the kids, a picnic, and even your dog (if he can brave the fireworks!) for an evening of fun.
August – Chandler Art Walk
On the third Friday of each month, over 50 local artists gather in downtown Chandler to showcase their creations at the Chandler Art Walk. From 6-10 pm, families and individuals can enjoy photography, painting, glassworks, pottery, sculpture, and jewelry made by local artisans. The Art Walk is often hosted indoors during the summer months, so you can escape the sweltering heat while you browse.
September – Mid-Autumn Chinese Dance Festival
The First Annual Mid-Autumn Chinese Dance and Art Festival will be held on September 14th of this year. In addition to ethnic, regional, and folk dances, audiences will be treated to demonstrations of traditional musical instruments, and can browse Chinese art and handicrafts. The vibrant costumes are sure to be a highlight!
