The most common type of pharyngeal and laryngeal cancer is Squamous cell carcinoma, which develops in the cells that line the throat. Other types of pharyngeal and laryngeal cancer include lymphoma, lymphoepithelioma, and undifferentiated carcinoma.
Who Is at Risk?
People who smoke, use tobacco, or have human papillomavirus (HPV) are at increased risk for cancer in the throat. Other factors, such as drinking an excessive amount or consuming a diet lacking in fruits and vegetables, can also increase your risk.

Swelling or lumps in the neck- Sore throat that does not go away after a few weeks, even after taking antibiotics
- Cough

- Hoarseness that does not improve after a few weeks
- Neck or ear pain
