Matt Shores, MD
Director of FastMed Sports Medicine
Dr. Shores is the director of FastMed’s Sports Medicine program covering sports medicine and musculoskeletal management for FastMed Urgent Care clinics. He also leads the program by supporting our local community sports organizations, both evaluating their medical needs and treating their injured athletes.
Dr. Shores began his career during his residency in Family Medicine at St. Joseph’s Hospital and then pursued specialty fellowship training in sports medicine at Arizona State University. While at ASU he served as a team physician covering Sun Devil football, men’s basketball, soccer, wrestling, and baseball. Dr. Shores has also trained with the head team physicians for the Phoenix Suns and AZ Diamondbacks. Since 2008, Dr. Shores is proud to have served as a team physician with many local high schools including Corona del Sol, Hamilton, and many other East Valley High Schools. In addition, as part of the local Spring Training sports medicine team, Dr. Shores has helped facilitate Chicago White Sox Spring Training physicals since 2009. Dr. Shores is happy to bring his experience in Sports Medicine and his connections to the Valley’s Sports Medicine and Orthopedic community to FastMed Urgent Care.
Dr. Shores has grown up in Phoenix, AZ and continues to live not far from where he grew up as a child. He enjoys spending his down time with his wife and four children. Even with his down time, his heart doesn’t stray too far from sports as the majority of this time is spent coaching his kids’ various baseball and football teams. So, one way or another, whether it be covering a local game as a team physician or coaching his own kids, you may just come across Dr. Shores on an athletic field near you.
