American Heart Association and FastMed Urgent Care team up for cardiovascular health

FastMed to support AHA fundraising events and heart-healthy living across North Carolina

Clayton, NC – The American Heart Association (AHA) announces that FastMed Urgent Care will support Heart Walks across North Carolina in an effort to provide healthy living solutions to the community and to aid in the fight against the state’s No. 1 and No. 5 causes of death, heart disease and stroke.

FastMed Urgent Care will have a presence at the Winston-Salem, Guilford, Wilson, Greenville, Rocky Mount, Sandhills, Triangle, and Charlotte Heart Walks and Johnston County Heart Chase throughout 2015.

The Heart Walk is the American Heart Association’s premiere event for raising funds to save lives from cardiovascular disease through research and educational programs.  Designed to promote physical activity and heart-healthy living, the Heart Walk creates an environment that’s fun and informational for the entire family.

“We want to thank FastMed Urgent Care for joining us in the fight to end cardiovascular disease,” said Brian Allen, Senior Director of Development, American Heart Association.  “We look forward to working with FastMed Urgent Care to make a positive impact on the health and wellness of our community.”

FastMed Urgent Care will provide health tips and free blood pressure checks to Heart Walk participants and will promote the Heart Walk at select locations.  FastMed mascot Dr. Kyle FastMed will also make appearances at Eastern North Carolina Heart Walks to hand out FastMed blood pressure check wallet cards, hand sanitizer and sunblock lotion.

“FastMed is pleased to join the American Heart Association’s fight against death, heart disease and stroke here in North Carolina,” said Jason A. Williams, CEO and President of the Eastern Region for FastMed Urgent Care.  “Staying healthy isn’t just about treating injuries and illnesses.  FastMed’s commitment to our communities extends beyond the doors of our urgent cares, supporting healthy living and health education to live a better life.”

FastMed Urgent Care supports the American Heart Association mission to build healthier lives, free of cardiovascular diseases and stroke.  The AHA strives to create an extraordinary impact on the community by improving patient care, advocating for better health through local, state and federal policy change, reaching out to populations most at risk, raising awareness and supporting lifesaving research.
