Clayton, NC – February 3, 2014 – This February 18th from 10 AM to 2:30 PM FastMed Urgent Care will partner with the Red Cross in Johnston County to hold an Urgent Care Red Cross Blood drive at the Clayton Community Center in Clayton, NC as part of the FastMed Cares Community Outreach Program. All donors and participants will receive a special thank you gift from FastMed Urgent Care.
The drive encourages everyone in the community to donate blood or volunteer time to benefit accident victims, cancer patients, surgical candidates, children with blood disorders and many others in Clayton and Johnston Counties as well as our surrounding communities. Most people know a family member, friend or colleague who has needed a lifesaving medical treatment or procedure involving blood transfusions, which would not be possible without a safe and reliable blood supply from local donors.
As many as 44,000 blood donations are needed every day to meet the needs of Americans across the country. A single blood donation to the Red Cross can help save up to three lives.
Giving blood is not the only way to contribute to the blood drive. Volunteering and giving the gift of time are both greatly appreciated and essential to the success of the FastMed-Red Cross event on February 18th.
Volunteering also means helping to promote the Clayton blood drive to the entire community, which will give everyone a chance to participate and help the Red Cross reach the blood drive goals we have set in Johnston County and the surrounding area. One of the most common reasons people so not donate blood is that they’ve never been asked.
