FastMed Urgent Care provides individual adult and children’s flu vaccinations for $15 at all of their North Carolina locations
RALEIGH, N.C., September 16, 2011 – FastMed Urgent Care announced today that they will be providing adult and children’s flu vaccination shots for $15 each as a health and wellness outreach.
“The Center for Disease Control and Prevention is recommending that everyone 6 months and older should get the flu vaccine yearly. Get your vaccine now so that you will be protected when the flu season starts in October. I highly recommend getting the flu shot to protect yourself and your loved ones.” according to Dr. Melvin Lee, Chief Medical Officer for FastMed Urgent Care.
If you contract the flu before receiving the flu shot, the vaccine will have little effect. It takes up to 2 weeks for protection to develop after receiving the shot.
Children have higher rates of infection as well as pregnant women, and those with a weak immune system or other health conditions are more susceptible.
Receiving your fall flu shot is important as influenza viruses are always changing, and each season’s vaccine is designed specifically for that variant strand of influenza.
Vaccination for the flu helps in several ways. It assists in keeping the flu away so you can enjoy your daily activities, prevents absences from work, and assists in avoiding higher medical bills associated with treatment of the flu.
