FastMed Urgent Care launches COVID-19 self-assessment tool

Free tool helps patients make a quick decision about seeking appropriate medical care based on coronavirus-related symptoms and other risk factors

PHOENIX (March 30, 2020) FastMed Urgent Care, one of the nation’s largest urgent care providers, announces the launch of its COVID-19 self-assessment tool on fastmed.com. FastMed is offering its COVID-19 self-assessment tool as a free public service to help patients quickly decide where to seek appropriate medical care based on a brief series of questions that help assess the risk of coronavirus.

While FastMed is currently not a COVID-19 testing center, its 109 clinics across three states are otherwise well-equipped to manage urgent medical needs including symptoms of cold, cough, flu and other common illnesses and injuries. If the tool assesses the patient as having a low risk for coronavirus, patients are encouraged to check in online at fastmed.com, complete their e-registration, and select the option to be texted when they are ready to be seen. This is recommended as both a convenience for our patients and to minimize crowding in clinic reception areas that could lead to unnecessary exposure.

Patients should not be concerned about their safety when being treated at a FastMed clinic, as FastMed is the only independent urgent care operator in North Carolina, Arizona and Texas to hold The Joint Commission’s Gold Seal of Approval® for quality, safety and infection control in ambulatory healthcare. The Joint Commission’s rigorous accreditation process includes evaluations of patient safety and infection control, medication management, the environment and provision of care, staff training and competency, ethical standards of care, compliance program, and continual process improvement.

“The health and safety of our patients and our clinic staff members who treat them is our first priority, and in a larger effort to serve our communities, we have provided a quick and easy way for patients to know whether to seek care at FastMed or elsewhere,” said Web Golinkin, CEO of FastMed. “Safety matters now more than ever, and we are proud to be the only independent urgent care operator in North Carolina, Arizona and Texas to hold The Joint Commission’s Gold Seal of Approval for quality, safety and infection control in ambulatory healthcare, so patients can visit us when necessary with complete peace of mind.”

“FastMed’s new COVID-19 online self-assessment tool will help to direct patients to the appropriate setting of care while also helping to prevent unnecessary hospital Emergency Department visits,” said Dr. Tom Brant, co-Chief Medical Officer at FastMed. “This will reduce the burden on our already stressed hospital systems during the pandemic.”
